Flagship Project
Accelerating sustainable growth, innovation, and investment across Ghana's fisheries and aquaculture sectors through coordinated action and public-private collaboration.
The Blue Food Innovation Hub is an ongoing, national multi-stakeholder initiative established to accelerate sustainable growth, innovation, and investment across Ghana's fisheries and aquaculture sectors.
Building on the foundations laid by collaborative platforms such as the Blue Food Partnership (BFP) Ghana Initiative, the Hub represents a shift from dialogue and action planning to implementation, innovation delivery, and investment mobilisation. It responds to persistent sector challenges, including stock depletion, high production costs, limited access to finance, low technology adoption, and weak linkages between research and market application.
The Hub was established through a collaboration between the World Economic Forum, the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development (MoFA), and the Chamber of Aquaculture Ghana. It forms part of the World Economic Forum's global Food Innovation Hubs network.
As the first Food Innovation Hub dedicated exclusively to blue foods, it serves as Ghana's central ecosystem for de-risking aquaculture investment and modernising fisheries.
Supporting entrepreneurs through accelerator programmes and structured technical support.
Promoting research application, data sharing, and learning across the value chain.
Connecting innovators to investors through access-to-finance clinics.
Aligning stakeholders, coordinating action, and tracking progress.
The Hub is anchored by the Chamber of Aquaculture Ghana, which is responsible for coordination, implementation, and stakeholder engagement.
Strategic oversight is provided by an Advisory Board comprising senior representatives from government institutions, industry leaders, and regional and international partners.
